Upland Partners with The Earth House Collective

EarthHouseCollectiveHi everyone. Here’s a little post to keep you up-to-date on what we’ve got going on this week and weekend at the Earth House, located downtown Indy on East Street and New York Street. The Earth House Collective is an Indianapolis community hub that collaborates with local organizations and artists to support the arts, encourage healthy living and promote sustainable community since 2008. They’ve given local artists and the entire community, a venue to display art, see a show, or just enjoy a cup of coffee.

In the past, The Earth House has not really served beer with the exception of a couple of shows that would have special permission. Well, this Thursday will be the first time we’ll be partnering with the Earth House to sell beer in the venue, and we are very excited about it AND the MOKB Presents! show that will be taking place on Thursday night.  Join us as we take in the cool sounds of Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears with openers, Tiger High. Get your tickets here for this anticipated show!

On Friday, The Earth House is also hosting an evening of Jazz and Sushi, which is a big fundraiser for them. Upland will be served there. If it’s something you’re interested in getting involved with, please check out this link.

Supporting the Earth House in Indianapolis is a great way to help support the local arts in this community. Be a part, get involved and show some local love. Learn more about The Earth House.

Super Bowl XLVI, Clean Zone…DIRTY Party

I’m not gonna lie, the past four weeks have been INCREDIBLE for us over at Upland in many ways.  For all of us who work here, we’d like to say it was an incredible workload along with incredible fun and all local breweries received all kinds of love from out-of-towners and locals. The workload was certainly well worth it. It was also incredible to see our community band together and make an amazing host city. …One that is STILL being talked about a week later. And of course, we had to throw a party.

At this time, we need to thank everyone who was involved with pulling this party off. There are really too many to actually list, but we have some key mentions. Young and Laramore Ad Agency, of whom has been helping us re-design our website and helping us with some branding things, teamed up with us and graciously hosted the “Dirty Party in the Clean Zone.”

We had many people as why it was “Dirty Party in the Clean Zone. Since it was technically the first time Indianapolis has ever seen a “Clean Zone,” we must explain what that is. The Clean Zone by definition, is an area of a city in which grants the NFL legal rights to control commercial activity in streets around the Super Bowl. Now, some people find this concept controversial. We decided to make it fun. And since Y&L’s building sat on the border of the clean zone, we named it “Dirty Party…In the Clean Zone.”

Here’s a GREAT video by Brant Hawkins of our very dirty party. (..and thank you, Brant!)

Thank you to PUP for working the event and thank you to everyone who contributed to People for Urban Progress.
And a huge thank you to Kelly Jordan Photography for the super fun photo booth and DJ Helicon for the great music!

The Golden Growler

Do you remember when you first watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a kid? Or perhaps you watched the more recent Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Well, wasn’t it exciting to see who got the Golden Ticket? If you were keeping your eyes peeled for the Golden Ticket, would you ever imagine the possibilities if you actually received it?
Well, a new day has come and rather than a Golden Ticket, we have for you, a Golden Growler. That’s right…And we’ll be giving the Golden Growler away for the first time over Super Bowl weekend.
The Golden Growler is the best beer karma growler ever. It comes with a loaded gift card so it can be filled once and enjoyed with friends, family, enemies, who or what have you, then it is to be passed on to someone who least expects it.
So, here are the instructions that come along with the Golden Growler:
1. The Golden Growler has come with a jeweled gift card with money already on it.  Upon receipt of the GG, head to the nearest indy or Bloomington Upland location (For Indianapolis head to 4842 North College Avenue and Bloomington, head to 350 w 11th st.  fill the growler using the jeweled gift card that came with it.
2. Once the growler is filled, it is filler’s responsibility, as good beer karma would have it, to re-fill the gift card for the same amount. Note: It’d be really cool if the gift card remained attached to the GG at all times, as it is the beating heart of this good karma operation. We don’t want the heart to go missing.
3. Enjoy the filled Golden Growler with friends, loved ones, or perhaps enemies…for they may not be enemies for long.  please put forth a special effort to take photos and/or video of this joyous experience, on our Facebook page and on twitter. Photos can be uploaded at www.facebook.com/uplandbrewingco. The photos will then be posted on the Upland Blog. We’re all excited to follow the Golden growler’s journey.
4. Once  it’s been enjoyed, give the growler a good rinse with clean water once it’s emptied. No one wants a nasty growler…then pass this Golden Growler to someone who least expects it, along with the special instructions.  Please do not keep the Golden Growler for more the 3 days (or 72 hours), for the sooner you pass it on, the quicker we can continue the circle of good karma.
We are SUPER excited to see its journey.

An Update on Upland Brewery’s Expansion

Hey everyone. Here’s some news in regard to our expansion. We’ve teamed up with Blueline Style and Media to help integrate our special Upland events page to a new website being built by Young and Laramore, and to also help document our expansion.  Check out some of these photos by Blueline.

UplandExpansionInstabarrelsinsta There are going to be all kinds of good times. We’re excited to see all the changes that will be taking place over the next couple of weeks. We’ll also have a section in our Facebook Photos that is dedicated entirely to photos like these.

Also, we’re still taking resumes for a brewer position because of our expansion, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to brew some fine tasting treats, please send your resume to caleb@upland beer.com.

We’re looking forward to seeing you soon! Cheers!
