IU’s Welcome Week Block Party is back! Union Board Concerts and the IU Residence Hall Association are excited to present this year’s Block Party featuring singer/songwriter d4vd live at IU Auditorium. The yearly Block Party offers an exciting and inviting atmosphere for both new and returning IU students to experience music and community all in one night.
Enjoy games, food trucks, and more around IU’s Showalter Fountain just outside of IU Auditorium starting at 5 p.m. before doors open. Tickets will be available to first-year students first, then available to all IU Bloomington students if tickets remain.
d4vd, born David Burke, has released a smattering of singles touching everything from indie-alternative to pop to R&B. The 18-year-old scored a breakout hit in the summer of 2022 with the now RIAA multi-platinum certified melancholic indie rock song “Romantic Homicide.” The track reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and led to d4vd signing to Darkroom/Interscope before graduating high school. His slow-building beachy ballad, “Here With Me,” followed, breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2023 and becoming RIAA platinum certified.
d4vd’s debut EP Petals to Thorns established him as a genre-defying newcomer and one of the best new emerging acts, corroborated by his Billboard 21 Under 21 and Variety Young Hollywood honors.
