Overcompensation
IPA – Imperial / Double
The aroma is an extravagant barrage of the rich, fruity flavors of melon, lime, orange, passion fruit, and papaya carried by wafts of warming alcohol. The unobtrusive grainy malt profile allows the personality of the hop flavor to leap to the forefront with dizzying amounts of tropical fruit and citrus followed by a piney finish.
Teddy Bear Kisses
Stout – Russian Imperial
A dark and robust beer brewed in the traditional stout method. Teddy Bear Kisses features an abundance of dark malts and high alpha hops for a powerful impact of roast, chocolate, and sweet bitterness. The lucky few who cuddle up to a warming session with Teddy Bear Kisses sense the velvety malt character, balanced bitter intensity, and soothing chocolate notes created by long aging on fair trade cocoa nibs. Teddy Bear Kisses will make you feel warm and happy inside, but it’s definitely not your childhood cuddle toy.
Tropical Vortex
IPA – International
Tropical Vortex continues Upland’s tradition of brewing “out of season” in a rebellion against winter. Rather than submit to the doldrums of the season by drowning our sorrows in heavy, dark beers, we choose to look on the sunny side of life by brewing a beer that invokes the warmth and brightness of summer. Tropical Vortex is a bright, crisp, and refreshing IPA using Galaxy and Waimea hops grown in the
Southern Hemisphere. Inspired by the Brut IPAs originating on the West Coast, this beer is crystal clear, dry, and effervescent with a very mild bitterness and powerful flavors of passionfruit, peach, citrus and mango. The perfect beer for wishful drinking because, while it’s winter in the Midwest, it’s always summer somewhere.
Modern Tart
Sour – Fruited
The sensation of biting into a fresh apricot was the muse for the final release in Upland’s 2018 Tart Series. Modern Tart’s generous amounts of apricot compliment the refreshing tartness of a kettle sour. Adding a small amount of lactose (milk sugar) into the kettle balances the acidity, in contrast, creating a subtle sweetness that captures the essence of fresh fruit. The final result boasts vibrant tropical flavors thanks to a backdrop of Citra and Mosaic hops. Pouring hues of golden yellow, Modern Tart keeps fruit in focus ensuring each can is fresh on display.
