For more years than we can count, Upland has attended and participated in a blues and bluegrass festival towards the end of May in Madison, IN. Last year, they changed the name to the River Roots Festival, and this year is no exception to the folks from Upland being present.
The 9th Annual RiverRoots Music and Folk and Art Festival will be held on the riverfront in Madison, Indiana, on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18. This festival features nationally recognized blues and bluegrass musicians, this year featuring Ben Solee and The Carolina Chocolate Drops and introducing Christine Balfa and Balfa Toujours, to name a few. It is situated right on the Ohio River just south of downtown Madison, providing a casual backdrop for a great day of music, local beverages, and delicious food.
A change this year is a totally revamped beer garden, focusing more on local brews and wines. Upland Brewing Company is joined by our friends in southern Indiana New Albanian Brewing Company of New Albany, Great Crescent of Aurora as well as central Indiana breweries of Powerhouse of Columbus and Sun King of Indianapolis. In addition to great Indiana breweries, we also will share the space with fantastic Indiana wineries. There will also be a book signing by authors Bob Ostrander and Dick Morris of “Hoosier Beer.” Another new addition are some very tasty food trucks, including Indianapolis-native Taco Lassi and Der Pretzel Wagon.
