It’s the end of the summer and so it is the end of Listen Local: The final show is this Friday, August 23. As always, it will be at Broad Ripple Park with gates at 6:00 pm, show starting at 7:00 pm. This installment of Listen Local will feature Oreo Jones, Teenage Strange, and No Coast.
In central Indiana, Oreo Jones is a fixture across all music scenes. He has collaborated with other locals like Action Jackson and DMA, blending hip hop, rock, and just about everything else you can think of. If you don’t know who he is, you’ve probably seen him hanging at shows from Fountain Square to Broad Ripple. Jones is bringing to the Listen Local stage multiple hip hop and rap artists, including Upland friends Rusty Redenbacher and Grey Granite plus John Stamps, Freddie Bunz, and Sirius Black.
Listen Local has something for everything by pumping in gritty punk and rock into the set with Teenage Strange and No Coast. Teenage Strange combines punk with a splash of speed metal on a 5-hr Energy shot. Guaranteed to get your blood pumping and heads banging. No Coast, originally from Kokomo, is a punk trio set upon a pillar of power pop. Check out Musical Family Tree for more on these bands and previews of what to expect.
Tickets are “pay-what-you-want”, so if you want swift entrance into the show, we recommend going to http://listenlocalaugust23.eventbrite.com/ to get your tickets ahead of time. We will have beer for sale for $4 with proceeds going to the Indy Parks Department, and food trucks will be on site to feed you. No outside alcohol, please.
