Every month we open the doors to the Upland Propaganda Studio in Fountain Square (Murphy Art Building, 1043 Virginia Avenue, Suite 202, Indianapolis, IN 46203) to the public for our First Friday Gallery. This month’s First Friday is on May 3 and features graphic artist Aaron Scamihorn www.ronlewhorn.com.
Even if you have not heard of Aaron, we guarantee you’ve seen his work. He’s produced posters and artwork for Cake, Margot and the Nuclear So-and-Sos, and many of the Naptown Roller Girls’ bout posters. He also produced an amazing campaign for the Dollar Shave Club featuring several American presidents. A piece depicting Woody Allen just returned back from Los Angeles from an event focused on the director and will be on display and for sale Friday evening amongst many other great pieces. Aaron will also have a nice variety of pieces available ranging in price to fit everyone’s wallet.
Our non-profit for this month is Indy Convergence. Indy Convergence brings together artists of many backgrounds to foster development of their crafts. They travel abroad, too, teaching art techniques and workshops to people in developing countries.
Our house DJ, DJ Jackola will be spinning great music, and we will have pints of Wheat and IPA on tap, and the proceeds go to Indy Convergence. We will also be selling pints down the hall at Joyful Noise during their monthly show.
Doors open at 6 pm and runs until around 11 pm. Hope to see you Friday night!
