We’re back in Bloomington and still recouping from The Beer Bloggers Conference in Asheville! The conference brings together beer bloggers from all over to meet, drink, and strategize; and after following the hashtag for a few years on twitter we decided to join in and see what it was all about.

A photo posted by HB (@heybrewtiful) on  felt like kings visiting the Oscar Blues and Sierra Nevada breweries. We got a behind the scenes look at both breweries and tried some brand new beers. Upon arrival at Sierra Nevada, we were greeted by the man himself, Ken Grossman. Needless to say this group of beer nerds were completely star struck. Even more so when we realized he was giving us the brewery tour.  Big thank you to Oscar Blues and Sierra Nevada for hosting us – it was such a treat.

We learned a lot about the booming Asheville beer scene and enjoyed meeting a variety of beer bloggers from around the country. Touring Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada on the first day set the tone for a great weekend ahead. Both breweries rolled out the red carpet giving us a look behind the scenes and sharing some brand new beers with the group. Upon arrival at Sierra Nevada, we were greeted by Ken Grossman; needless to say this group was completely star struck. Even more so when we realized he was giving us the brewery tour.  Big thank you to Oscar Blues and Sierra Nevada for hosting us – it was such a treat.

Kim Jordan of New Belgium Brewing closed out the second day of the conference with the story of New Belgium and how they’re working with new media. New Belgium is a big inspiration for lots of breweries, including Upland, so we were honored to hear about their struggles and successes from one of their founders.

Aside from learning a lot about blogging and picking up some excellent social media tips, we had so much fun getting to know this diverse group of people.
The weekend ended with a bang at Wicked Weed’s Funk Asheville Festival.
